Crime Watch Report - December 28, 2016 to January 7, 2017

Detective1) 2016-12061 On December 28th, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 1400 block of Alberni Highway in Parksville. The complainant advised that sometime during the night culprits entered his unlocked work van and stole a suitcase containing various I phones and I pads and tools used for fixing same.

2) 2016-12068 On December 28th, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 200 block of Stanford Road East in Parksville. The complainant advised that during the early hours culprits entered her unlocked vehicle and stole 2 sets of jumper cables, yellow rain gear, and several tools. The glove box and centre console had also been rummaged through.

3) 2016-12114 On December 30th, 2016, a break, enter and theft was reported to have occurred at a business in the 800 block of Island Highway West in Parskvillle. The complainant advised that during the early morning hours culprits smashed the front glass door on one of the units. Fortunately the unit is currently under construction and although entry was gained the only property missing appears to have been a sledge hammer.

4) 2017-40 On January 2nd, 2017, a mischief to property was reported to have occurred at a residence in the 100 block of Stanford Avenue East in Parksville. The complainant advised that she discovered that the deadbolt on her exterior door which leads to a workshop had been tampered with. The complainant took the deadbolt to a locksmith for repair. Fortunately no entry was gained into the premises.

5) 2017-75 On January 3rd, 2017, a break, enter and theft was reported to have occurred at a residence in the 800 block of Andreeff Road in Qualicum Beach. The complainant advised that while away for the Christmas holidays, culprits gained entry into his residence. The complainant was unsure about the actual point of entry however once home he noticed 5 firearms had been stolen. The total value of property stolen was approximately $3600.00.

6) 2017-115 On January 4th, 2017, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred somewhere in the Parksville area. The complainant advised that during daylight hours and on three different occasions in the past few months he has had three Husky, Model 61 chain saws stolen out of the rear of his truck. He could not say where the thefts actually occurred as he had made numerous stops around the area but wished the thefts reported for information purposes.

7) 2017-121 On January 4th, a theft from a local business in the 600 block of Island Highway West in Parksville, was reported to have occurred. The complainant advised that at approximately 4:00 pm a male was observed on video surveillance stealing a Bosch framing nail gun valued at $380.00. The man was described as Caucasian, late 30’s, he had a goatee and was wearing job site overalls and steel toed boots. The suspect in this theft is in custody.

8) 2017-199 On January 7th, 2017, an attempted theft of vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 2700 block of Alberni Highway in Qualicum Beach. The complainant advised that sometime during the early hours culprits entered two vehicles on the lot and attempted to steal the vehicles. In both vehicles the ignitions had been damaged.

9) 2017-207 On January 7th, 2017, a break, enter and theft to a business was reported to have occurred in the 1400 block of Island Highway East in Parksville. The complainant advised that culprits forced through a gate allowing access into a fenced compound and then smashed a window allowing access into a locked building. The thieves backed their vehicle up to the shop entrance and stole an undetermined amount of copper wiring.

10) 2017-212 On January 7th, a mischief to vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 600 block of Island Highway East in Parksville. The complainant advised that she was parked outside of a local business and when she returned to her vehicle she discovered that both passenger side vehicle tires were flat. She had her vehicle towed to a tire shop the next morning.
