Crime Watch Report - February 18 to 25, 2016

Detective1) 2016-1393 On February 18th, a theft was reported to have occurred at a local business in the 100 block of Island Highway East in Parksville.  The complainant advised that two females entered the store with a small buggy type cart. The ladies spent a lot of time in the clothing section before going to a check out.  The only items disclosed were two bottles of cleaning product.  The complainant thought the buggy looked overly full and confronted the females outside of the store. As soon as the complainant asked the females to stop they took off running.  The complainant went back to the clothing section to find numerous empty hangers. The females were described as Caucasian, one approximately 50-55 years, wearing a purple top and jeans and the second female had short hair, wearing a blue shirt and jeans with multiple tattoos.

2) 2016-1394 On February 18th, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 1500 block of Pacific Crescent in Parksville.  The complainant advised that culprits entered his unlocked vehicle and stole the insurance papers from his glove box and his licence plate (AK-835E).

3) 2016-1481 On February 21st, a theft was reported to have occurred in the 2000 block of Burgoyne Road in Coombs.  The complainant advised that a 9000 watt generator hidden behind his carport was stolen sometime overnight.

4) 2016-1484 On February 21st, a mischief to two vehicles was reported to have occurred at a business in the 300 block of Island Highway East in Parksville.  The complainant reported that he arrived at work in the morning to discover two vehicles, a Chevrolet Silverado and a Ford F150 had been vandalized.  Culprits damaged the driver’s side door handle on the Chevrolet and the ignition had been drilled out on the Ford. This matter remains under investigation.

5) 2016-1494 On February 21st, a break and enter was reported to have occurred at a business in the 3900 block of Alberni Highway in Qualicum Beach. The complainant advised that at approximately 7:00 pm two males kicked open a side door leading to the electrical room of the business.  The complainant’s dog chased the males away from the scene.  A police dog was called to attend and tracked the suspects into a neighbouring trailer park.  Several neighbours assisted the police advising that the males were observed hiding in bushes however neither of the suspects were located.  It is believed that they managed to leave the area in a vehicle.

6) 2016-1516 On February 22nd, a theft from Canada Post property was reported to have occurred at Horne Lake Road at Turnbull Road in Qualicum Beach. The complainant advised that mailboxes at the aforementioned location had been compromised however exactly what mail was stolen remains a mystery.

7) 2016-7153 On February 24th, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 1500 block of Madrona Drive in Nanoose Bay.  The complainant advised that his unlocked vehicle was entered and a small quantity of change was stolen.

8) 2016-1591 On February 25th, a break and enter to a number of trailers at a business in the 1400 block of Industrial Way in Parksville, was reported to have occurred. The complainant advised that the trailers were entered however to date the owners have not all be notified so it is unknown exactly what has been stolen.

9) 2016-1593 On February 25th, a vandalism to vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 100 block of Beachside Drive in Parksville.  The complainant advised that his vehicle was parked in an underground parkade and sometime in the past few days the rear quarter panel and hood of his vehicle were keyed.

10) 2016-1605 On February 25th, a mischief was reported to have occurred in the area of Dunn Road at Errington Road in Errington.  The complainant advised that the end of their road is becoming a dumping area for people who simply refuse to take their garage to the landfill.  The officer advised the complainant to report anyone observed dumping garbage immediately thus affording the police the opportunity to catch these persons in the act and to be treated accordingly.
