Crime Watch Report - January 30 to February 1, 2017

Detective1) 2017-824 On January 30th, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 200 block of Island Highway East in Parksville. The complainant advised that at approximately 10:15 am, she parked in front of the pharmacy and went into the store to pick something up. When she returned moments later a bag of groceries was missing from her front passenger seat. Also missing was a prescription valued at $60.00.

2) 2017-831 On January 30th, a mischief to School District 69 property was reported to have occurred in the 300 block of Craig Street in Parksville. The complainant advised that culprits spray painted graffiti on several of the elementary school walls recently.

3) 2017-834 On January 30th, a mischief to property was reported to have occurred on Hirst Avenue at McCarter Street in Parksville. The complainant advised that for the past few months her fence and other property has been spray painted with graffiti and again this past weekend culprits tagged her fence.

4) 2017-847 On January 31st, a theft from two vehicles was reported to have occurred in the 400 block of Aurora Street in Parksville. The complainant advised that sometime during the evening two vehicles in their driveway were entered. On one vehicle the rear passenger side window was smashed. A knife not belonging to the vehicle owner was left on the rear passenger seat. A number of tools were stolen from the vehicle. On the second vehicle a piece of plastic covering a rear window was slashed allowing entry into the vehicle. A small quantity of change was stolen.

5) 2017-849 On January 31st, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 400 block of Craig Street in Parksville. The complainant advised that sometime during the evening his truck was entered and a number of tools were stolen. The culprits left a screw driver in the complainant’s vehicle.

6) 2017-851 On January 31st, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 400 block of Craig Street in Parksville. The complainant advised that sometime during the evening culprits smashed the rear window of her vehicle and stole her hiking backpack, containing a water bottle and boots.

7) 2017-853 On January 31st, a vehicle was reported stolen in the 2300 block of Leisure Way in Nanoose Bay. The complainant advised that the 1993 white Chinook Camper van has been parked on the property for almost ten years now. He last saw the van between Christmas and New Year’s. The engine does not run, the tires were literally flat, and the vehicle may have been on blocks. The complainant advised that the vehicle is originally from California and has never been registered in Canada.

8) 2017-859 On January 31st, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 100 block of Meridian Way in Parksville. The complainant advised that sometime during the early hours culprits smashed the rear window of her vehicle allowing access into the vehicle. The centre console and glove box were rummaged through but it does now appear that anything was stolen.

9) 2017-860 On January 31st, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 400 block of Aurora Street in Parksville. The complainant advised that sometime during the early morning hour’s culprit’s entered his unlocked vehicle and rummaged through the centre console and glove box. Nothing appeared to have been stolen. This incident may be associated to #4 and #8.

10) 2017-866 On January 31st, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 1200 block of Dobson Road in Errington. The complainant advised that during the early morning hours her uninsured unlocked vehicle was entered and culprits attempted to steal the stereo out of it. The thieves were unsuccessful in taking the stereo but did cause some damage to the vehicle during the attempt.

11) 2017-868 On January 31st, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 100 block of Meridian way in Parksville. The complainant advised that sometime during the early hours culprits entered her unlocked vehicle and rummaged through the glove box and centre console. It does not appear as though anything was stolen.

12) 2017-869 On January 31st, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 100 block of Meridian Way in Parksville. The complainant advised that in the early hours culprits entered her unlocked vehicle and rummaged through the glove box and centre console. Nothing appeared to have been stolen. This file is most likely associated to #1.

13) 2017-873 On January 31st, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 400 block of Craig Street in Parksville. The complainant advised that sometime overnight culprits smashed the rear passenger side window allowing entry inside the vehicle. A pair of binoculars were stolen.

14) 2017-875 On January 31st, a break and enter and theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 1200 Corcan Road in Qualicum Beach. The complainant advised that in the past few days’ culprits broke into one of his tenant’s trailers and one of his vehicles while he was out of town. A number of tools were stolen from the vehicle.

15) 2017-876 On January 31st, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 100 block of Meridian Way in Parksville. The complainant advised that sometime during the evening culprits entered her unlocked vehicle rummaged through the glove box and centre console. A quantity of change was stolen. This incident is probably associated to #1 and #2.

16) 2017-900 On February 1st, a break and enter was reported to have occurred in the 300 block of Craig street in Parksville. At approximately 7:00 am, the complainant heard a noise in his kitchen and when went to investigate he saw a male on his enclosed deck. The male had removed the plywood from around the kitchen window and appeared to have been trying to gain entry into the kitchen. When the complainant confronted the male he said he had brought the complainant’s black cat back. The complainant responded that he didn’t have a black cat. The culprits said he was sorry to have bothered him, turned and walked away. The thief was observed getting into a vehicle and left. No license or descriptors available. The male was described as Caucasian, had a beard, in his 30’s and wearing a light coloured jacket and dark pants.

17) 2017-901 On February 1st, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred on Trill Avenue in Parksville. The complainant advised that during the early morning hours culprits entered his unlocked vehicle and rummaged through the glove box and centre console. There was no damage and nothing appeared to have been stolen.

18) 2017-902 On February 1st, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 1200 block of Island Highway East in Parksville. The complainant advised that sometime during the evening culprits gained entry into a food truck by cutting the lock off. Nothing appeared to have been stolen.

19) 2017-903 On February 1st, a break, enter and theft was reported to have occurred at a business in the 1200 block of Industrial Way in Parksville. The complainant advised that during the early morning hours culprits broke into the business via a side door which had been forced open. The till and various filing drawers were opened but nothing appears to have been taken.

20) 2017-908 On February 1st, a vehicle was vandalized on Island highway East at Northwest Bay Road in Nanoose Bay. The complainant advised as she was travelling on the major highway her passenger side window shattered. The complainant pulled over to the side of the road and it appeared as though someone had shot at her window with a pellet gun. No culprit was observed.
