Crime Watch Report - June 10 to 14, 2016

Detective1) 2016-5079 On June 10th, two break, enter and thefts were reported to have occurred in the 400 and 500 blocks of Ridgefield Road in Parksville. The complainant advised that two brand new homes that he was constructing and at the lock up stage, were entered sometime during the early morning hours. The residence in the 500 block had a broken window and culprits pried open the rear door allowing entry. Once inside the thieves stole 21 boxes of Branson coloured Old Mill Shiner wood, valued at $5600.00. The residence in the 400 block also had the rear door pried open however nothing was stolen from inside. The complainant advised that there was approximately $4100.00 damage to both premises.

2) 2016-5088 On June 10th, a vehicle was reported to have been vandalized in the 300 block of Mill Street in Qualicum Beach. The complainant advised that sometime during the night the rear canopy window on his truck had been smashed. No entry was gained into the vehicle.

3) 2016-5108 On June 10th, a break, enter and theft was reported to have occurred at a resort in the 100 block of Beachside Drive in Parksville. The complainant advised that he and his roommate went for a walk along the Parksville Beach boardwalk and never locked the sliding glass door to their room. Upon return they discovered that their room had been entered and a tablet, Ipad, wallet, backpack, various credit cards and currency had been stolen.

4) 2016-5150 On June 11th, a mischief to vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 4800 block of Island Highway West in Qualicum Beach. The complainant advised that during the early morning hours culprits smashed the driver’s side window on his vehicle.

5) 2016-5151 On June 12th, a break, enter and theft was reported to have occurred in the 100 block of Weld Street in Parksville. The complainant advised sometime in the past few days culprits forced open his garage door and stole an X Box game system and a Lincoln 140 HD electric welder.

6) 2016-5178 On June 13th, a vehicle was reported to have been vandalized in the 300 block of Huckleberry Lane in Qualicum Beach. The complainant advised that sometime during the evening culprits keyed the right rear side of her vehicle.

7) 2016-5183 On June 14th, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred on Jamison Road in Bowser. The complainant advised that during the early morning hours culprits gained entry into his unlocked vehicle and stole a MP3 player, a smart stick for his camera and a navigation holder.

8) 2016-5202 On June 13th, a break, enter and theft was reported to have occurred in the 100 block of Despard Street in Parksville. The complainant advised that between June 11th and 13th, a residence that he was building was entered and a stainless steel stove was stolen. The culprits pried open the back sliding door allowing access and then exited via the front door. It appears that a vehicle had been backed up to the front door and then damaged the grass by spinning its tires when leaving the scene.

9) 2016-5209 On June 14th, a theft of tools was reported to have occurred in the 400 block of Ridgefield Drive in Parksville. The complainant advised that a trailer on a work site had the locks cut off and a number of tools which included: 2 Dewalt screw guns, 2 Dewalt routers, a tool belt and an extension cord, were stolen. There has been a rash of thefts from construction sites in that particular area recently.

10) 2016-5219 On June 14th, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 500 block of Belson Street in Parksville. The complainant advised that sometime in the early hours culprits entered his unlocked vehicle and stole his wallet. The complainant searched the immediate area and did locate his wallet in a nearby park however one credit card was missing.
