Crime Watch Report - June 20 to 25, 2016

Detective1) 2016-5442 On June 20th, a theft was reported to have occurred in the 3600 block of Alberni Highway in Parksville. The complainant advised that a shipment of potato chips valued at approximately $650.00, was stolen from a portable warehouse container. The unit had been recently moved from Nanaimo to Parksville and the complainant discovered that product missing on the morning of June 20th.

2) 2016-5517 On June 22nd, a mischief to business was reported to have occurred in the 100 block of Morrison Avenue in Parksville. The complainant arrived at work to discover that culprits had pried at an exterior air conditioner. It is unsure if the thieves were attempting to break into the business or steal the unit. No entry was gained into the premises.

3) 2016-5524 On June 23rd, a theft of vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 100 block of Corfield Street in Parksville. The complainant advised that at approximately 2:36 am, he heard his truck start up and take off down Corfield Street towards Highway 19A. Police patrols failed to locate the stolen vehicle. The vehicle is described as a red 1988 Jeep Comanche, license KL-4351. The vehicle had been left unlocked and the complainant believes the keys had been left in it.

4) 2016-5529 On June 23rd, a vehicle was reported to have been vandalized in the 400 block of Morrison Avenue in Parksville. The complainant advised that sometime during the early hours culprits vandalized he vehicle by cracking the windshield, breaking the rear passenger side window and denting and scratching the passenger side door.

5) 2016-5553 On June 23rd, a theft was reported to have occurred in the 300 block of Park Ridge Place in Qualicum Beach. The complainant advised that a hanging plant valued at $50.00, was stolen from a light pole sometime during the evening.

6) 2016-5561 On June 24th, a utility trailer was reported to have been stolen at Allsbrook Road at Evergreen Way in Parksville. The complainant advised that the utility trailer with BC license 140692, had been stolen from the Fish Hatchery Building in Englishman River Park sometime in the past week.

7) 2016-5566 On June 24th, a mischief was reported to have occurred in the 1000 block of Maple Lane Drive in Parksville. The complainant advised that in the early hours culprits broke not only a window in his house but a window in his vehicle as well. The complainant also discovered that his fence was damaged when a portion of a perfectly healthy tree inadvertently fell on it. The tree was examined and did not appear to have been tampered with or cut in any way.

8) 2016-5597 On June 25th, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the parking lot of a business in the 200 block of Island Highway East in Parksville. The complainant advised that between 2:00 am and 5:00am on June 25th, he was pressure washing a parking lot and culprits stole a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 cell phone and a flashlight from his unlocked vehicle.

9) 2016-5602 On June 25th, a theft from a work vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 100 block of Middlegate Avenue in Parksville. The complainant advised that sometime overnight culprits pried open the door of a service vehicle and stole assorted tools, several HDMI cables, several power surge protectors and the insurance papers for that vehicle.

10) 2016-5605 On June 25th, a theft of vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 100 block of Harrison Avenue in Parksville. The complainant advised that sometime between June 17th and June 25th, her red 1988 Dodge Ram pickup truck, BC license JT-3480 and a metal row boat that was in the back of the truck, were stolen. The vehicle had only a quarter tank full of gas and the doors were rusty and did not lock properly. The boat was metal and blue, it had oar and rod holders, wooden benches and a pleather seat for fishing.
