Crime Watch Report - June 25 to 28, 2016

Detective1) 2016-5610 On June 25th, a theft from business was reported to have occurred in the 100 block of Island Highway East in Parksville. The complainant advised that upon review of video surveillance he discovered a theft from his store occurred on June 6th. An unknown Caucasian male wearing black pants and shirt, a ball hat and a green visible vest is observed entering the store and then left the store carrying an inflatable canoe valued at $200.00. He made no attempt to stop and pay for the item.

2) 2016-5633 On June 26th, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 200 block of Corfield Street North in Parksville. The complainant advised that during the early hours culprits entered his unlocked vehicle and stole a knife with the engraving ‘NARSTCO’ on the handle. The thieves left another six inch kitchen knife in the vehicle which is being examined by the RCMP Identification Section.

3) 2016-5635 On June 26th, an attempted theft of a boat motor was reported to have occurred in the 800 block of Shorewood Drive in Parksville. The complainant advised that during the early morning hours culprits cut the control cables to his outboard motor and loosened off the mounting bolts in an attempt to steal the motor.

4) 2016-5636 On June 26th, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred at the corner of Wheeler Avenue and Mckinnon Street in Parksville. The complainant advised that her unlocked vehicle was entered and rummaged through in the early morning hours. There was no damage to the vehicle and nothing appeared to have been stolen.

5) 2016-5637 On June 26th, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 200 block of Hirst Avenue West in Parksville. The complainant advised that during the early morning hours her unlocked vehicle was entered and culprits stole a small amount of change.

6) 2016-5654 On June 26th, a mischief to vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 100 block of Island Highway East in Parksville. The complainant advised that while he was parked in the Community Park culprits keyed his van.

7) 2016-5676 On June 27th, a mischief to and theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred on Ballenas Place in Parksville. During the early hours of June 25th, culprits smashed the front windshield and rear window of the complainant’s pickup truck. The thieves also gained entry into the vehicle and stole an unknown amount of change.

8) 2016-5706 On June 28th, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 100 block of McCarter Street in Parksville. The complainant advised that at approximately 3:00 am, he heard his car alarm go off but did not go outside until a half hour later. The complainant discovered that his LED 50” Rough light bar had been cut off the top of his Jeep Cherokee. The rubber holder of the light bar was broken and there was a dent on the upper driver’s side door where the bar appeared to have been bent over to remove. The bar was valued at approximately $1400.00.

9) 2016-5712 On June 28th. A theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 400 block of Island Highway West in Parksville. The complainant advised that during the early hours culprits smashed the left rear window on her rental car and stole a black and red backpack with raingear inside. Also stolen were a brown leather ‘Tilly’ hat, a ball cap with Alaska and a float plane on it and a green Helly Hanson rain coat.

10) 2016-5744 On June 28th, a theft was reported to have occurred in the 100 block of Island Highway West in Parksville. The complainant advised that his men’s black satchel was stolen in downtown Parksville and he received a call from a person in Nanaimo advising that his satchel had been located in the women’s bathroom at the Dairy Queen. There had been a large amount of cash and several credit cards in the bag. When he recovered the satchel the credit cards and cash were missing.
