Crime Watch Report - June 29 to July 2, 2016

Detective1) 2016-5755 On June 29th a theft was reported to have occurred in the 2700 block of Alberni Highway in Qualicum Beach. The complainant advised that a metal 8’6” support post was stolen from his residence currently under renovation. The post was being used as support for a huge beam inside the residence.

2) 2016-5758 On June 30th, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 900 block of Woodpecker Place in Parksville. The complainant advised that she mistakenly left her vehicle window rolled down and approximately $20.00 in change was stolen from her centre console.

3) 2016-5759 On June 30th, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 700 block of Shorewood Drive in Parksville. The complainant advised that culprits entered his unlocked vehicle and rummaged through the centre console and glove box. It did not appear that anything was missing.

4) 2016-5788 On June 30th, a theft of vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 700 block of Phillips street in Parksville. The complainant advised that sometime in the early hours her blue 1993 Chevrolet S10 pickup, BC license FB-1108 was stolen from in front of her residence. All Keys are accounted for and the vehicle had approximately ½ tank full of gas.

5) 2016-5798/5804/5805/5806/5807/5808/5812 On June 30th, a theft from Canada Post was reported to have occurred at the following locations: 3700 Island Highway West in Qualicum Beach, 400 block of Hemsworth Road in Qualicum Beach, 1200 block of McLean Road in Qualicum Beach, 2700 block of Grafton Avenue in Errington, 1500 block of Winchester Road in Qualicum Beach , 400 block of Illiqua Road in Qualicum Beach and the 1000 block of Winchester Road in Qualicum Beach. In all cases the mail boxes were pried open. It is unknown what items are missing in each instance.

6) 2016-5814 On June 30th, a theft from boat was reported to have occurred in the 4800 block of Ocean Trail Road in Bowser. The complainant advised that during the early morning hours a cooler containing fishing gear was stolen from his boat which was parked in front of his residence.

7) 2016-5835 On July 1st, a theft from vehicle was interrupted in the 1700 block of Alberni Highway in Coombs. The complainant went outside to lock her vehicle when she observed a Caucasian male with long brown hair and wearing a white shirt and blue jeans, running away from her vehicle. The vehicle had been rummaged through but it did not appear as though anything was stolen.

8) 2016-5846 On July 1st, a mischief to residence was reported to have occurred in the 2800 block of Turnbull Road in Qualicum Beach. The complainant arrived home from an extended vacation to find that culprits had thrown a rock at his front door and several lights had been smashed. No entry had been gained into his premises.

9) 2016-5885 On July 2nd, a theft was reported to have occurred on Alberni Highway at Station Road in Coombs. The complainant advised that between June 29th and July 2nd, 8 railway ties, 8 to 10 feet in length, were stolen from a construction site at the aforementioned location. The value of these ties was about $700.00. The culprits also damaged a metal railway switch valued at $200.00. The heritage group working on this project ask that anyone with information regarding this senseless theft to contact the police immediately.

10) 2016-5894 On July 2nd, a theft/mischief was reported to have occurred in the 100 block of Bagshaw Street in Parksville. The complainant advised that sometime overnight culprits gained entry into his U Built farm machinery trailer parked in front of his residence. The complainant advised he is a cow foot doctor and uses cutter heads for manipulating, grinding or amputating cow feet. The cutter heads, valued at $2000.00, were cut off and stolen from his trailer.
