Crime Watch Report - May 19 to 27, 2016

Detective1) 2016-4284 On May 19th, a break, enter and theft was reported to have occurred at a business in the 800 block of Island Highway West in Parksville. The complainant advised that upon arrival at work he discovered the front doors to the lobby of the arena ajar and the ATM machine in the lobby had been drilled open. The culprits covered two of the security cameras with tape to avoid detection. This matter remains under investigation.

2) 2016-4318 On May 19th, a break, enter and theft was reported to have occurred in the 3400 block of Alberni Highway in Qualicum Beach. The complainant advised that a shop on his property has recently been broken into twice by two unknown males driving a dark blue Toyota vehicle. The complainant recently found the suspects on his property and scared them off. Unfortunately he could not obtain the BC license. Both males are described as Caucasian males with black hair and sores on their faces. The complainant is currently compiling a list of stolen tools for the police.

3) 2016-4325 On May 20th, a theft was reported to have occurred at a business in the 800 block of Island Highway West in Parksville. The complainant advised that two black and silver ladders valued at $200.00 were stolen from the rear of Canadian Tire during the afternoon of May 19th. A male was observed taking a ladder and ripping off the packaging and then hiding the ladder in the woods behind the mall. The following day the male was again observed loitering around the back of the mall and this time a silver sports car pulled up and the suspect loaded the ladder into the vehicle and left. An officer coincidentally was at an address on Schaffers Road when a silver sports car arrived and the officer observed a male take two black and silver ladders out of the vehicle. When the officer later heard about the theft at Canadian Tire he returned to Schaeffers Road in Coombs and arrested the male for theft.

4) 2016-4343 On May 20th, a theft of motorcycle was reported to have occurred in the 1100 block of Englishman Road in Errington. A 1990’s lime green 60 cc Kawasaki dirt bike was stolen from an unlocked storage shed. The complainant advised that the bike had a racing number on the front with the name ‘Braiden’, written on ink on it.

5) 2016-4356 On May 21st, a break, enter and theft was reported to have occurred at the Fish Hatchery building in the Englishman River Park on Allsbrook Road in Parksville. The complainant advised that during the early hours culprits stole a number of tools and an old Polaris ATV. The tools were found hidden in nearby bushes however to date the quad is still missing.

6) 2016-4447 On May 24th, a theft was reported to have occurred from a storage area in the 1300 block of Cape Cod Drive in Parksville. The complainant advised that during the early morning hour’s culprits entered an outdoor storage area and stole three tires and rims.

7) 2016-4471 On May 25th, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred on Trill Drive in Parksville. The complainant advised that sometime overnight, culprits entered her unlocked vehicle and stole a Garmin GPS.

8) 2016-4503 On May 25th, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 300 block of Craig Street in Parksville. The complainant advised that when he went to go to work this morning he found the door to his vehicle open. A small quantity of change was stolen and the centre console latch was broken.

9) 2016-4504 On May 25th, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 300 block of Craig Street in Parksville. This file is associated to #8. The complainant advised that his vehicle had been entered and a small amount of change stolen from the centre console.

10) 2016-4553 On May 27th, a theft of motor was reported to have occurred in the 1800 block of Warn Way in Qualicum Beach. The complainant advised that his 1996 9.9 horsepower Mercury boat motor was stored in an unlocked storage unit and was stored there since last boating season. When he went to get his motor it was gone.
