Crime Watch Report - November 2 to 8, 2016

Detective1) 2016-10317 On November 2nd, a theft was reported to have occurred in the 2700 block of Sunset Terrace in Qualicum Beach. The complainant advised that between October 17th and 24th, a 3’ X 6’ Stark solar panel valued at $300.00, was stolen from his residence.

2) 2016-10345 On November 3rd, a break, enter and theft was reported to have occurred from a business in the 600 block of Island Highway East in Parksville. The complainant advised that sometime during the early morning hours culprits cut a hole in an exterior fence in the northeast corner of the property allowing entry into the compound. Several lights in the compound were unscrewed and approximately $1000.00 in property was stolen.

3) 2016-10349 On November 3rd, a mischief to City property was reported to have occurred at the Community Park, located at 193 Island Highway East in Parksville. The complainant advised that sometime in the past two days culprits burned a hole in the kids slide at the park. The slide will need to be replaced. This matter remains under investigation as surveillance cameras are being reviewed.

4) 2016-10371 On November 3rd, a break, enter and theft was reported to have occurred in the 1900 block of Kaye Road in Nanoose Bay. The complainant advised that during daylight hours, culprits gained entry into his garage via an external door and then into the residence itself. The complainant arrived home to find that the door had been pried open. Various pieces of jewellery were stolen from a bedroom. Also, several items removed from a bedroom were located outside of the residence and seized to be examined by the Forensic Identification Section. A suspicious vehicle noted in the area around the time of the break and enter was an older model red extended cab Nissan with the rear driver’s side window smashed and covered with plastic.

5) 2016-10380 On November 4th, a break, enter and theft was reported to have occurred at a home under construction in the 600 block of Lowry’s Lane in Parksville. The complainant advised that sometime during the evening culprits gained entry into the premises by removing a piece of plywood leading into the garage. Once inside the thieves stole commercial painting equipment and construction lights. A white older SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Blazer/GMC Jimmy was observed leaving the area at approximately 6:00 am with no lights on.

6) 2016-10392 On November 6th a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred on Middleton Avenue at Craig Street in Parksville. The complainant advised that sometime during the evening of October 28th, culprits entered her unlocked vehicle and stole her wallet which contained various pieces of identification, debit cards and $100.00 in cash. The thieves did manage to use one of her cards at Shoppers Drug Mart.

7) 2016-10394 On November 4th, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 800 block of Fairdowne road in Parksville. The complainant advised that during the day while he was at work culprits came onto the work site and removed the fog lights and front bumper of his vehicle.

8) 2016-10482 On November 7th, a theft was reported to have occurred in the 500 block of Quatna Road in Qualicum Beach. The complainant advised that she heard noises in her backyard on November 2nd but did not investigate. Today when she went into her freezer she noticed that 12 lamb chops and a shoulder roast were gone.

9) 2016-10508 On November 8th, an attempted break and enter was reported to have occurred at a business in the 100 block of Alberni Highway in Parksville. The complainant advised that sometime during the evening culprits attempted to punch the rear door lock to the business. No entry was gained. The complainant advised that several homeless persons have been hanging around their rear doors during the evenings and they may have been responsible.

10) 2016-10512 On November 8th, a theft of vehicle was reported in the 800 block of Island Highway East in Parksville. The complainant advised that sometime during the early morning hours culprits stole her blue 1990 Kodiak quad and various tools that included two chop saws, a ramp for her trailer and a box full of assorted tools, from her shed.
