Crime Watch Report - February 25 to March 1, 2016

Detective1) 2016-1615 On February 25th, a theft from Canada Post property was reported to have occurred in the 1100 block of Fair Road in Parksville.  The complainant advised that culprits pried open a number of mail slots at a rural post box and stole an undetermined amount of mail.  Several tools and various pieces of mail were found on the ground near the mailboxes.

2) 2016-1634 On February 26th, a theft was reported to have occurred in the 600 block of Pioneer Crescent in Parksville.  The complainant advised that sometime during the evening two solar panels valued at $1000.00, were stolen from his property.

3) 2016-1635 On February 26th, a theft was reported to have occurred in the 200 block of McVickers Street in Parksville.  The complainant advised that during the early hours culprits stole a plastic wicker round table and two chairs from his front patio.

4) 2016-1665 On February 27th, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 300 block of Clarkson Place in Parksville. The complainant advised that her son was awoken by a noise and when he looked out of his window he observed two males running away from his mother’s unlocked vehicle. Upon inspection it was discovered that a number of compact discs had been stolen.

5) 2016-1703 On February 28th, a theft of dirt bike was reported to have occurred in the 1300 block of Claymore Road in Qualicum Beach.  The complainant advised that he had been riding his 125 cc red and black Baja Motorsports dirt bike when the chain fell off.  The complainant stashed the bike in the woods and walked back to his truck.  He was gone 45 minutes and upon his return his dirt bike was gone.  The bike has orange handle grips, a rip in the seat and a ‘Fox’ sticker on the rear fender. An older cream coloured truck with rusty orange doors and a bluish front fender was observed in the area where the bike was stashed and may have been involved in the theft.

6) 2016-1715 On February 29th, a vehicle was reported to have been vandalized in the 4800 block of Island Highway West in Qualicum Beach.  The complainant advised that sometime during the night his vehicle was vandalized.  He discovered the driver’s side window of his truck was smashed as he found a ball bearing on the floor of the cab.  There did not appear to have been any entry into the vehicle as nothing appeared disturbed or missing.

7) 2016-1716 On February 29th, a break, enter and theft was reported to have occurred at a residence on Skylark Avenue in Parksville.  The complainant advised that during the early morning hours culprits gained entry into his residence which is currently under construction, via the garage door which was covered by plywood.  A 10 inch DVX sliding compound mitre saw with laser sights and a 10 inch Dewalt contractor table saw, were stolen. The blades on each saw had the company name inscribed on them.

8) 2016-1725 On February 29th, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 300 block of Pioneer Crescent in Parksville. The complainant advised that sometime during the evening culprits entered his unlocked vehicle and rummaged through his centre console and glove box.  Nothing appeared to have been stolen.

9) 2016-1726 On February 28th, a theft of vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 500 block of Horne Lake Road in Qualicum Beach.  The complainant advised that one of his work vehicles, a 2001 Isuzu five ton truck was stolen off his property between February 18th and the 28th. The BC licence on the truck was BM-6509.

10) 2016-1759 On March 1st, an attempted break and enter to a business was reported to have occurred in the 1600 block of Island Highway East in Nanoose Bay.  The complainant advised that upon arrival to work he discovered that culprits attempted to break through a wall leading into the main office. A review of video surveillance showed three males unsuccessfully attempted to gain entry into the premises.  This matter remains under investigation.

11) 2016-1761 On March 1st, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 800 block of Bouman Place in Parksville.  The complainant advised that during the early morning hours her locked vehicle was entered and a gym bag containing personal belongings was stolen. No damage was observed on the vehicle.
