Crime Watch Report - January 20 to 25, 2017

Detective1) 2017-561 On January 20th, a theft was reported to have occurred in the 800 block of Island Highway West in Parksville. The complainant advised that sometime during the evening of January 19th, culprits stole the Vancouver Sun and Province vending boxes from the parking lot of the French Creek Bakery.

2) 2017-563 On January 20th, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 3100 block of Island Highway West in Qualicum Beach. The complainant advised that during the early morning hours culprits entered her unlocked vehicle and stole her garage door opener.

3) 2017-568 On January 20th, a theft of vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 1300 block of Cape Cod Drive in Parksville. The complainant advised that during the early morning hours his dark green 1997 Chrysler 4 door Intrepid, BC License 526-SFG, was stolen from his parking lot.

4) 2017-598 On January 21st, a break, enter and theft was reported to have occurred at a business in the 3200 block of Island Highway West in Qualicum Beach. The complainant advised that the business has been closed for some time but he checks the premises regularly. On January 21st he attended to discover the front door unlocked and a coffee maker, two commercial microwaves and a point of sale machine missing. The complainant checked video surveillance equipment and observed a female enter the premises on January 13th and then later in the evening with a second female. The two suspects entered the business on three separate occasions. They were driving an older red pickup which was observed parked in front of the business. Upon review of the video by the police both females were instantly recognized by officers and subsequently located, arrested and charged accordingly.

5) 2017-605 On January 21st, a theft of vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 2400 block of Shady Lane in Qualicum Beach. The complainant advised that sometime between January 18th and 21st, his white 1998 Ford F250 pickup short box, BC License 0155-HR, was stolen from his property. The vehicle has extensive rust on the driver’s side door and rocker panel.

6) 2017-624 On January 22nd, a theft from vehicle was reported to have occurred at the Cameron Lake parking lot in Qualicum Beach. The complainant advised that while hiking culprits smashed the driver’s side window allowing access into the vehicle. A ‘Rebecca Minkoff’ purse containing personal identification and bank cards belonging to the complainant, was stolen. Before being able to cancel her credit cards the culprit attempted to make purchases at a Qualicum Beach store. This matter remains under investigation.

7) 2017-666 On January 24th, a break, enter and theft occurred at a business in the 1400 block of Huntley Road in Parksville. The point of entry into the premises was via the smashed front glass door. Numerous items moved but the complainant does not believe anything was stolen.

8) 2017-670 On January 24th, a break, enter and theft occurred at a business in the 1400 block of Huntley Road in Parksville, obviously associated to #7. The point of entry was via the glass front door. The culprits used a pry tool to smash a small hole in the glass door allowing access to the lock. One inside numerous items were moved about. A quantity of cash was stolen.

9) 2017-686 On January 24th, a theft was reported to have occurred in the 2100 block of Island Highway West in Qualicum Beach. The complainant advised that his red 16 foot canoe was stolen from the beach in front of his residence. The canoe has white gunnels, wooden seats and a square back for mounting a motor. The canoe went missing sometime in the past two months.

10) 2017-695 On January 25th, a theft of vehicle was reported to have occurred in the 200 block of Moillet Street South in Parksville. The complainant advised that she last saw her vehicle in the complex parking lot on January 23rd. The vehicle is described as a gold/brown 1998 Chrysler Cirrus, BC License 886-RBE. The vehicle was locked, was half full of fuel and has a large dent in the driver’s side rear door. On January 25th Footprints security called the complainant advising that a receipt book belonging to her was located on Northwest Bay Road.
